Rustic Apple Pie

Granny Smith apples usually go fast at my house. When they don’t, I make pie.

1 9-inch pie crust rolled to 10 inches.

5 medium-size apples – Granny Smith or Golden Delicious work great
1/2 cup brown sugar. White sugar will also work
1 1/2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Pre-heat oven to 425°F.

Using a pizza stone or large baking sheet, place pie crust and roll flat to about 10 inches. In large bowl, gently mix filling ingredients; spoon into center of pie crust. Fold crust up around the edges of the apples, rustic style.

Bake for 15 minutes at 425°F, then reduce heat to 350°F for another 20-30 minutes or until crust is is golden brown.
